It was summers of the year 2017 & I was following a focussed approach to bring my body into shape.

On the first Sunday of June’17, I reached gym along with my workout buddy Kunal.

Me: Kunal, we shall do core exercises today followed by abs.

Kunal: Sure bro!

We started with 10 minutes treadmill run followed by 5 minutes cycling. Immediately after we took a challenge of doing 1000 calories burn through 1 hour long functional exercises. We did this in 2 phases.

We started with Burpees( 3 sets, 12 reps each) & kettlebell swing( 3 sets, 12 reps each) alternatively. We then proceeded with weighted jumping jacks( 3 sets, 4 kgs, 40 reps each), spiderman pushups(3 sets, 25 reps each), squats(75 reps), mountain climbs(3 sets, 20 reps each) & push up to Planks( 3 reps, 12 reps each). These were followed by high box jump( 3 sets, 20 reps each) & planks(3 sets, 60 seconds each). I felt completely drained after doing these strength demanding exercises. These exercise really tested my energy levels & made me realize I need to focus to build my core.

However, challenge faced through these tough exercises motivated me to complete the 2nd phase of exercises enthusiastically. I was fully energized while doing alternate lunges, sumo squats & crunches. I could observe changes in my lower abdomen after doing this 1 hour long functional workout.

After regularly performing these workouts every week for 6 months, I could notice positive changes in my “abs” structure.
