Remote working brings lot of commercial benefits for organisation as well as employees in terms of operating cost saving, higher productivity, improvement in operating efficiency, high employee retention & access to large talent pool. However, Remote working creates biggest positive impact on environment & society.

Think of a traditional organisation setting where employees spend 1 to 2 hours on commuting. This translates into huge energy consumption, which if prevented could provide energy to 8 million homes. Such organisations generate enormous amount of CO2 which impacts the environment & society negatively.

Most of us underestimate the societal impact of remote working. With less commute, remote workings supports in,

1) Reducing CO2 emission

2) Low fuel spends & less pollution

3) Since remote working is not location dependent, it reduces crowd in larger cities & makes cities more greener & clean.

4) Less commuting leads to low carbon footprint

5) Optimising energy consumption.

Further, in office setting optimising resources, using disposal utensils/plastic for lunch &/or share rides takes lot of time & effort. Besides, the tangible( financial/monetary/productivity) & intangible benefits( environmental impact) associated with working remotely makes it a winning proposition for organisations going forward.

To conclude, even one day remote working can create substantial positive impact on society.
