For me, life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.” — Arnold Schwarzenegger

It was 6th Aug’2018 & I was prepared for next level of fitness journey. As soon as I reached gym, Shaad Bhai phoned me up:

Shaad bhai: I am reaching gym in 10 minutes, you please start with push-ups & do 3 sets of 20 reps each.

Me: copy that!

This marked start of my weight training. This was not going to be smooth ride since after achieving lean figure , muscle building & weight training was going to test my strength & energy level to its core.

Initially, push-ups were very hard for me & I could do only 10 reps of 2 sets each.

At this, Shaad bhai said: Sushant ji, this will take time since now you are working out on exercise which requires high level of energy.

Me: Agree Shaad bhai! I am also experiencing pain in my arms.

Shaad Bhai: It will be for sometime till you get accustomed to it. We will start with chest workout today!

We started with Chest press, Flat Dumbbell press & Dumbbell fly with 7.5 Kgs weight. I could only do 2 sets of 6 reps each. Sooner I realized that my strength level is at a satisfactory level, however my energy level needs to be upgraded for lifting heavy weights.

Shaad bhai: Sushant ji, we need to alter your diet & increase the quantum of carb to extract right level of energy required for lifting heavy weights. As a matter of fact, with passage of time, we need to increase weights constantly & reduce the number of reps to build our muscle weight.

Me: Shaad bhai, I am also of the same opinion! Let us work towards a weight training focussed diet.

Over a period of 45 days, I altered my diet & increased content of carb & good fat. I could observe change in weight picks. I was able to do 3 sets with 10 Kgs Dumbbell. However, this was just a start. In order to have a muscular built, this was not enough. Over a period of time, I faced lot of challenges in increasing weights from 10 Kgs to 30 Kgs. To know more about challenges I faced in increasing weights across chest, biceps, triceps, shoulders, back & legs workout, stay tuned for my next blog..!
